Our Mission

Main Street Winter Haven’s mission is to develop and preserve the economic, cultural and historic qualities that make downtown the heart of our community. We believe our historic downtown district has a unique character, so we celebrate our rich history while reimagining our historic structures for the next generation. Downtown Winter Haven is a place for businesses of all sizes to thrive in an atmosphere of innovation and strong community relationships.

Our History

In 1995, Winter Haven was designated a Florida Main Street City, and Main Street Winter Haven, Inc., was established to carry out the National Main Street Approach. Dollar for dollar, Main Street has proven itself to be one of the most impactful, cost-effective community revitalization models in the country. The Main Street program was created at a time when many local businesses began moving into shopping malls and strip centers, leaving a once vibrant downtown district empty and susceptible to blight. Seeking to reinvigorate the downtown area, Main Street Winter Haven grew out of a recognition that a community is only as strong as its core. Historic downtown Winter Haven has seen tremendous improvement in the last 27 years, and Main Street Winter Haven is proud to contribute to the preservation of our community roots. Revitalization and Reimagining is hard work, and we sincerely appreciate our community partners, stakeholders, and volunteers for their dedication to downtown Winter Haven.

Main Street Winter Haven, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that involves the entire community in revitalizing downtown.
